Where do authorized drivers get keys?
Authorized drivers will find the keys already in the reserved car. When an authorized driver enrolls, we’ll issue them a vehicle access card that will allow them to lock and unlock the doors of a vehicle once they’ve reserved it. The vehicle’s ignition will not respond unless the vehicle has been reserved and the correct access card has been used.

How do authorized drivers get into a vehicle?
When an authorized driver enrolls, they will be issued a vehicle access card, about the shape and size of a credit card, with a unique number assigned to them. Vehicles reserved by the authorized driver will unlock ONLY after recognizing the unique access card during the specified reservation time. When the authorized driver gets to the vehicle, they just hold their vehicle access card up to the card reader. The locks pop open, and they're in.

How do authorized drivers enroll?
All authorized employees are eligible to enroll. Contact the fleet manager for further information.

When can authorized drivers start reserving vehicles?
Once an authorized driver account has been created and they’ve received their vehicle access card, there is a 5-minute online activation process. With that out of the way, an authorized driver can reserve and drive anytime.

What types of vehicles are included in the program?

How are vehicles maintained?
The program administrators are responsible for regularly scheduled maintenance of all program vehicles.

Can the technology be placed on vehicles already within the fleet or is the technology restricted to new vehicles only?

What if an authorized driver needs a vehicle on short notice?
The technology allows an authorized driver to reserve a vehicle up to a minute before they need it or as much as a year in advance.

Are any program vehicles permanently assigned to individuals?
No, program vehicles are shared by all approved drivers.

Can someone who is not an authorized driver drive a vehicle?
No. Anyone behind the wheel must be an approved driver within the program for liability reasons. If an authorized driver lets someone drive who is not an approved driver, the authorized driver participation in the program may be terminated.

Who pays for usage?
Program costs are allocated to a driver’s department on the basis of usage. In this way, the expense of owning and maintaining the vehicle is shared by all of those who use it.

How are parking tickets and other violations handled?
All fines from parking tickets and traffic violations are the financial responsibility of the authorized driver and must be paid immediately.
